Almond Blossoms: A Vincent van Gogh Story
Series: Painted Tales
This resource supports the Grade 3 focus "Environment."
Vincent van Gogh is arguably the most recognized artist in the world. While his lonely, turbulent life is well known, many people are not aware of the sensitivity and compassion that fueled much of his art. Dr. Gachet, van Gogh's physician, and his daughter, Marguerite Gachet, saw this side after befriending the estranged artist. Adapted from the famous O. Henry story, "The Last Leaf" and set within Vincent van Gogh's most stunning paintings, Almond Blossoms is a reminder of the power of art. When young Marguerite Gachet's mother falls ill with pneumonia, Vincent helps her weather the storm by introducing her to art and hope.
